Man created God in his image, because this perceived reality coincides with the observed reality that human entities are capable of manipulating the world around them. Every mythological entity, be it God or dragons, are just abstractions of the human experience. In that way, they are valuable tools that help us to better understand ourselves as a species. It is 'ancient wisdom'. These things are worth learning about.
But they are not worth believing in. People who believe in their religion as truth are either stupid, uneducated, or both. -
