    I e read that the reason people see ghosts etc is because when someone you are close to passes away, the person leaves but all the structures and habits your brain formed around their existence still remain. You have that feeling of mom watching you and it can be triggered by many things that have nothing to do with mom watching you, for example. In that way those people continue to live on in our minds.
