Well anyways, my parents had about 200 or so parrots in a flight cage my dad built and my parents would power wash it every sunday, it was a huge ordeal, and they also had a couple of cages where they kept wild "congos" that were from africa and were strictly for breeding not to pet or be held they would fuck you up, my dad would feed them peanut butter sandwhiches with seeds in the peanut butter, they didnt talk like normal african greys that were sweet, they were literally the nigs of the breed.
My dad got the idea from his uncle who had emus and tons of other birds but on a larger scale and would sell them to people and to the casinos in louisiana. My dad started his own company "got your beaks" based about the simpsons episode where homer says "got your nose" and he would make cages and ship out birds at the airport early in the morning.
Our first bird we got was an african grey from my dads uncle when i was 15 when he was a baby and I named him honkey because he would honk, my mom named him scooter and we would argue over what his name was, but his name was honkey because I named him first. Birds are very attached to one person I've noticed, which was my mom, but rightfully so.
My parents eventually moved out of austin to bastrop and built a new home with an even bigger flight cage, but there was a wild fire about 7 years ago and it burnt the birds up and my parents house so now they just raise guinea fowl and chickens.
kinda sad but they did make a lot of money selling these birds to people willing to take care of them. A lot of people prefer dogs and cats as pets but birds are really something different, they are just kinda weird.
people say that african greys aren't cuddly birds but they are but only to one person. Whats also really strange is how they can not only parrot what you're saying but they can even take something you said and repeat it in your same voice.
I was busted by the parrot.

2017-12-07 at 7:47 PM UTC in pajarosI don't know you might think this is kinda lame but I think its really cool. My parents were bird ranchers and my dad would make and sell steel cages, but they had all kinds of birds, african greys, parakeets, monks parrots also known as quakers, and cockatiels.
Over the last 15 years I've noticed monk parrots in certain parts of the city in the power lines with nest and like a year or 2 would go by and i wouldn't see them then I'd see a nest somewhere else, today I went to the grocery store that I've been going to for the last 4 years and theres all these parrots eating with the grackles and the pigeons, its just downright amazing how things over a 10 or so years can change because they aren't native to texas. I think its only here in my city but I wonder how it will spread to others.
