Anybody who "hates the police" is either retarded or a total fucking poser

Fearmongering is the drawing of attention towards something like terrorism with the motive of pushing some political agenda). Such laconicisms as "When the seconds count, the police are only minutes away!" seem like a pretty obvious slogan of gun rights advocates. It promotes fear of home intruders with the intention of garnering pro-gun-rights sentiment.

So what about this doesn't work in your mind? Have I given an invalid definition of fear mongering, or is your little saying not a rhetorical device used by gun rights activists?

It's not at all about guns, so that shows your bias. I know guns rights activists often use the slogan, but if it was specifically for/about guns it would say, "When the seconds count, the police are only minutes away, so you better pack heat."

Also, to qualify anything that incites fear while at the same time pushing a political agenda seems like too low of a threshold. I've always thought fear mongering was blowing something out of proportion to cause unnecessary or unrealistic fear. Simply stating a fact is not fear mongering.

And that's just it. When the seconds count in a break in, or any other crime where you, or your property, is at stake, the police are several minutes away. Citizens should keep this and mind and take measures to protect themselves, because like I said before, police aren't personal body guards - they can't be. So, if this means buying a gun, fine. It might also mean carrying a can of mace, picking up the baseball bat under your bed, being aware of your escape options, or choosing not to stay out as late at night.

You say that but I'm not sure reasonable unbiased people are going to be convinced. Looking at google I don't see a single usage that isn't in the context of "let's all have more guns". Sure you can say "oh, that's just how everyone else uses it, just not me" which like, ok, but that's like say "I'm pro-life and pro-abortion, by pro-life I just mean I don't want adults to die lol". Like sure, if you strip all context from the term "pro-life" that works but it's a complete failure as a communicative strategy.

Well I'm not sure what the appropriate level of terror to live in is with respect to home intrusion, but I'm pretty suspect who's trying to increase the general level of fear of this phenomenon whilst claiming it's in the public's best interest.

Are you seriously more afraid by reading "When the seconds count, the police are only minutes away"? Does that strike fear into your heart? The slogan isn't meant to inspire fear, nor does it. It's meant to point out a flaw in our emergency response system, and encourage citizens to be aware and take preparatory action if necessary. You're ignoring my last paragraph:

It's not just home invasions. It's any time you're in trouble. Good to have a backup plan besides 911, because coppers can't get there soon enough. Learn to take care of and watch out for yourself.

"It can't be propaganda because I believe it's true!"

If you don't think that slogan is a clear call-to-fear home invasion then I'm not sure what I can say to convince you otherwise. It's like the most obvious reading I can imagine.

Wat. How are you not understanding this? Trouble happens to you. Police take a while to respond. It might be a good idea to learn how to take care of yourself in situations where police arrival may take too long. That's it. Where the fuck is the fear mongering and propaganda?

Additionally, I'd say in all seriousness that it's probably more likely that you'd be 'home invaded' by the police themselves than by a burglar.

How many people do you know that have been home invaded? Unless you're the recepient of some sketchy tweakers' decision to try and rob you for your known to be large drug stash, I'd hazard a guess that the odds of being a home invasion victim are around 1/10,000,000, at least.

To clarify, I'm referring to a home invasion as a person or persons forcefully entering your home, while you are home. Most burglars are at least smart enough to try burglarizing a house when nobody is home.

Lol this. Niggas are looking way too hard into it. Real propaganda doesn't (usually) come in nifty little sentences like that. And the thing is, nobody is even using it as propaganda. It's just a slogan that gun-ho (teehee) activists use. You know, like anything else. Is "God hates fags" propaganda? I'd hardly think so. The quote originates from a fucking young adult novel about literal demons. Demons.

    But sure, propaganda. Goddamn.

Applying that term to inane shit like this only demeans the value of the word, and lessens the impact of actual propaganda. If you think this is propaganda you're empty in the head. Seriously, shake out those walnuts and turn on the news or something. Check reddit's news subs. Go on facebook. That's where the real propaganda is, not in some fucking saying that gun activists have adopted from Infinity.

What exactly is your definition of propaganda and why do you seem to think major news outlets have a monopoly on it?

Trolling police is our sworn duty as civilians thats why you have to walk around at 4am with a meth pipe while its -20c outside and when the cop rolls up you smash the pipe on the ground into a million pieces and he says "what the fuck was that" and you go "just chillin man"

Here's my take on this. About 85-90% of the human population are stupid, ignorant, worthless fucking insects. Whether you're a banker, a business owner, a pizza delivery boy, or a police officer.

And people's worthlessness and ineptitude manifests in different ways depending on the amount of power they're given in society. In the majority of cases, the most amount of power they have is to act like morons in traffic and fuck up someone's morning commute. Not a big deal. But cops have the power to fuck up someone's life. That's why I don't like them. It's just an extension of my hate for humanity as a whole.

Government jobs are bullshit jobs anyway. Jobs we don't need. And if we did i am sure the markets would manage.
