Pretty much! It's a pretty funny discussion, but the racist is right here. Regardless of a person's ethnic origins, their nationality just depends on the soil they were shat out on. If it happened in France, his or her nationality is French and their ethnic background has no revelance. In the Netherlands, we distinguish between "allochtonen" and "autochtonen," the difference is the former has parents who were originally born outside of the Netherlands and the latter has parents who were originally born in the Netherlands. Nearly every non-white is by default an "allochtoonse Nederlander" but some non-whites are "autochtoonse Nederlanders" because their parents, even if they aren't ethnically Dutch, were born in the Netherlands. And this is where the racist angle comes in: even if a person's parents were born in the Netherlands, if they have no Dutch ancestry, they are simply not Dutch, even if they are technically to be considered "autochtonally Dutch." -

No, he is an autochtoonse Nederlander. He's a real Dutchman. Me on the other hand... well, I'm an allochtoonse Nederlander. Liberals see me as Dutch, conservatives see me as foreign. Funny thing is, when I went to Pakistan I wasn't considered a native either. I was also considered a foreigner there. So I am considered a foreigner in both countries. I don't have a place I get to call my own, I guess. Brutal stuff, really. -
