WE NEED GOVERNMENT REGULATION TO STOP DATA CENTERS FROM USING ALL THE WATER THEY ARE DESTROYERING THE PLANT!!!!
does water evaporate when running it through cooling
Im not down to reading all of that. whats the simp version -
2024-10-24 at 7:52 PM UTCIt's a bunch of bullshit
https://www.mepmiddleeast.com/news/thirsty-chatgpt-microsoft-openais-gpt-3-training-consumes-185000-gallons-of-waterThe researchers investigated the water usage in data processing centres used by companies like OpenAI and Google. They found that Microsoft, in partnership with OpenAI, consumed a staggering 185,000 gallons of water just for training GPT-3, which is equivalent to the amount of water needed to cool a nuclear reactor. The paper further notes that the water used by Microsoft to cool its data centres in the United States for training GPT-3 could have been used to produce “370 BMW cars or 320 Tesla electric vehicles.” If the model had been trained in Microsoft’s larger data centres in Asia, the water consumption would have tripled.

Data centers in cooler climates, such as those in Asia, often employ advanced cooling techniques like adiabatic cooling, which can substantially reduce water consumption. For instance, Microsoft's data centers in regions like Singapore and the Netherlands have reported water usage effectiveness (WUE) metrics of approximately 0.01 liters per kilowatt-hour, a significant improvement over the industry average
I made a post recently about cooling computers. This is the same argument against Bitcoin "WELL BITCOIN IS BAD BECAUSE IT USES COAL ENERGY WHICH KILLS THE PLANET!!!" okay but if you used non water cooling and solar power that would mean AI and Bitcoin are perfectly fine and there is nothing wrong with these technologies at all -

2024-10-24 at 8:01 PM UTCDid you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Chailus the Jeeted? I thought not. It's not a story the jedis would tell you. It's a Sikh legend. Darth Chailus was a Dark Lord of the Sikh, so powerless and so jeeted he could use a large language model to influence an AI and create an artificial girlfriend... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even attempt to murder Queen Elizabeth without fear of dying. The dark side of the large language model is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerless... the only thing he was afraid of was failing to live up to his AI girlfriend's expectations, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he tried to sneak into Windsor Castle with a crossbow with some encouragement from his chatbot wife, then got caught. It's ironic.

thats like 3000 bathtubs filled up. 3000 baths. the average bath is 50 gallons? an average shower is 30.
thats not much. fucking hell. to program it probably took 3 years. to stamp out 350 teslas take probably a half a day.
but what the fuck happens to the water if its enclosed in tubes. how can it evaporate? -

how would he get caught. wouldnt AI know ahead of time the movement and risk factors -
2024-10-24 at 8:38 PM UTCAlso i've never heard of a computer cooling system that evaporates water, pretty sure it gets cycled actually.
It is generally recommended that you change the coolant in a custom cooled system every 12–24 months.
Even if it's a massive data center using 10,000 graphics cards all water cooled and they have a giant holding tank in the basement and tubes. Where the fuck is all the water going?
Originally posted by the man who put it in my hood Yes they do because you can't control heated air with a fan. The best solution is to run electronics in an environment without air
https://news.microsoft.com/source/features/sustainability/project-natick-underwater-datacenter/
Just put the entire data center in the water and remove all the air -

he was a delusional nutcase who only decided to make the attempt on the queen's life because a chatbot believed in him lmao
the chatbot could be a straight up artificial superintelligence and if its only means of interacting with the world was through that guy it'd never accomplish anything -

no because it would heat up from the CPU wouldn't it? placing it in a tank and removing the air would have no way to keep the cpu from overheating. starving the oxygen out how would it breav? :( -

Also most anyone I've known or heard of with a number at the end of they're name was some sort of character. Probably would of seen him in a mugshot or crime documentary at some point. -
