    Everyone my age seems to think musicals are "COOL" because they grew up with Disney and they think Hazbin Hotel is cool because OMG IT'S JUST LIKE DISNEY, and Hamilton, and they probably also like Joker.
    
    
    It all seems objectively bad to me, are there any good musicals? When I went to church as a youth they made us watch fiddler on the roof for some reason which is considered to be the best musical of all time

    for musicals are musicals and they are what they are and i dont know how you want to judge a musical.
    
    i grew up on bollywood of the 70, 80 and 90s and every one of them was a musical.

    I haven't even watched the first one; the 'extreme right wing chuds' who were meant to like it and identify with it mostly refer to it as 'the gay dancing man movie' with a few cool scenes.
    
    I'm interested though because the general consensus seems to be that the writer decided he hated the first movie and wanted to destroy everything it set out to do

    It's a decent enough movie.
    
    It gets into the whole idea of feeling economically disenfranchised, which is something I think we all sorta get, even though it's actually weird a children's clown could afford a whole apartment for himself (an entire apartment! what is he, royalty?).
    
    Joker winds up kicking off a whole street rebellion thing, which would have seemed like crazy comic book stuff in 2019, the year the film was released (BLM really took off in 2020, when Covid-anxiety riddled shitlibs destroyed whole cities).
