How I like my Mashed Potaters

    Similar to the preparation of mashed taters. Peel (yes you do want to peel turnips), cut into cubes, boil till ready (when they drop off the fork when stabbed with said fork) then just add your butter, cream, salt, pepper etc...mash and enjoy.

    Turnips I've noticed are quite the premium in price here in the good ol USA...back in Jolly old England they were cheap and plentiful...not sure why there is that price discrepancy.

    Very delicious too.

    ETA:

    Mashed carrots with butter is a thing too, much nicer than unmashed carrots.

    Prep them as you outlined but try this one time. Wrap them in foil with butter, fresh garlic, and seet onions and toss them on the grill or in the coals of a campfire.

    Just keep turning the foil packet every few minutes for about 20 to 25 minutes, unwrap, and enjoy.

    You can also mix them with rutabagas or even parsnips (always peel, blanch, and rinse parsnips before cooking) with the above method. I knew and old guy in Montana who grew turnips, parsnips, and rutabagas who turned me onto this around his campfire at his cabin one night in the mid 80s.

    Couple of nights ago I took simeone to The Red Lion British pub here in Houston...they had fish and chips, I had Keema and fries.
