It looked to me kinda like the problem was neither one was seriously trying to kill the other one.
On the other hand this South African machete fight looked to be for real.

Well, neither has the first idea how to use a knife in a fight, that much is obvious.
When you go into a fight with a knife you don't hold it out in front of you, you hold it down your side or slightly behind you. Then you use your left hand to grip them and hold them in place where you can then bring your right hand in with the blade to deliver the kill shot. You don't wave the knife out in front of you where your opponent can just easily grip your wrist and proceed to try and break your forearm or smash and/or scrape your hand against nearby brick or concrete.
You can tell when amateurs hold knives in front their instincts are more geared toward hoping the opponent will see the knife and chicken it. Most have not even given a moment of thought on the idea of how devastating it will be if the opponent were to manage to get the knife from them, or about how pissed they'd now be that you had the gall to pull a knife on them, or what that anger might now drive them to do with it.

tobe fair only one of the 'knives' even had a tip on it, you don't generally do much stabbing with a machete
and the fact that the jacket guy allowed the shirtless guy to go get a machete and didn't punish him for dropping it indicates he wasn't all that serious

Back in 2400BC, the soldiers would use long swords and sweeping attacks to cut both legs clean off at the knees or shanks. So you had all these soldiers laying there squirming all over the battlefield with no legs.

Iron swords were not common until the 8th Century and Bronze would not be that strong enough to be made into a sword big enough to do that with.

Early iron swords were really variable in quality too, that's where the myths about magical swords came from. And go to a museum - swords back then were small and thin and light. And due to poor nutrition people were shorter and smaller back then, and tended not to live as long.
A bronze age or early iron age battle would have been like watching two groups of skinny little teenagers trying to stab each other to death with sharpened water pipes. It'd be unimaginably vicious, bloody and pathetic. You'd see people getting stabbed in the eyes, getting ligaments cut, walking around with entrails hanging out and bleeding to death.

With the stupid knife laws in the UK I've wondered what the law is about walking staffs. I watch a Scot who is into old stuff like camping using old methods and staff fighting. Pretty interesting and watching some of those trained guys they would fuck up any shithead with a knife.
Just wear your rucksack and your walking stick, tell the local cops you going hiking.
Also they say the UK over 80% white, I haven't seen that in the US since I was a kid.
