Keeping students safe on graduation night requires a team effort. In Norwalk, a network of parents, teachers and administrators is committed to ensuring safety with a Post-Graduation Party that runs until the wee hours of the morning.
One of the first steps in financing the party steps off Friday, March 3, at Norwalk High School with a Fashion Show to raise funds for the party. This year’s PGP will be held at Sky Zone in Norwalk and will require nearly $20,000 in financial support.

“It’s been a longstanding tradition that has been held the entire time I’ve had children at Norwalk,’’ said Bucci, whose daughter will be in this year's show. “It’s a labor of love and I think what kids like about it is it’s kind of a last hurrah before the end of the school year.”
“It’s a combined effort between children and parents,’’ Buswell said. “I think that’s the most important thing. We want to make sure students have a safe location for graduation night. It’s a huge endeavor, the Fashion Show is just one step towards supporting that.”
Bucci and Buswell are the co-chairs of a show committee that puts the show together. Local businesses -- A Step Ahead in Stamford, Camillo's in Norwalk, Bob Stores in Norwalk, Be Chic in Wilton and Connie B's in Norwalk -- are supporting the show.
Bucci takes particular interest in the show in that she has spent her entire professional career in the fashion industry. She worked as a buyer at Macy’s and is now a sales executive for a junior clothing company in New York City.
“It’s sad seeing your child graduate, but there is also such joy in it,’’ Bucci said. “These are some of the last memories you’ll have together. It’s fun for me because I do this for a living and have that passion for dressing and clothing. It’s something I really enjoy helping out with.”
Buswell brings her own fashion expertise. She formerly worked at a bridal store and help women create the vision for their wedding.
“Lisa’s a great person to work with, but we’re not alone,’’ Buswell said. “We meet with other women and we bounce ideas off of each other to create this vision of what a fashion show looks like. It’s a unique event and the students enjoy it.”
Juniors and seniors at the high school are encouraged to participate in the show. Young women, especially, love to wear the latest fashions in front of their friends. “We always seem to have more girls than boys, but we always seem to get just enough to make it work,’’ Buswell said.
The fashion show includes refreshments, raffles and a live auction. Click here to purchase tickets.
