with the whole Roald Dahl thing they backtracked and started offering the censored versions alongside the originals, but they've changed the originals in the repository so people who buy books on Kindle or whatever else don't get a choice, the new versions get pushed to their accounts and devices as if they were the only ones that ever existed

it's interesting because it opens the possibility for ebooks like that to be silently updated with no accountability and relatively minor changes are unlikely to be noticed at all

I recently downloaded all nine seasons of

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_of_the_Unexpected_(TV_series)

All un-revised and including nipples...because in the UK we don't find nipples offensive like the US does (gay).

US TV...you can show people having their heads blown off and killed in 100 different ways...but woe betide if you show a nipple on primetime TV

conversely, they decided that the lines 'let's start a war, let's start a nuclear war' needed to be censored in this fucking song

The Times’ report stated that Stine himself made the changes, claiming that he engaged in “self-censoring.” Stine was heavily criticized on social media for his apparent efforts to “appease woke culture.”

“I have never changed a word in a Goosebumps book,” he tweeted on Monday, adding that “any changes were never shown to me.”

Having initially declined to comment, Scholastic told the Times this week that it made the changes to “keep the language current and avoid imagery that could negatively impact a young person’s view of themselves today, with a particular focus on mental health.”

they changed his books in the most recent release and didn't even bother telling him; originally claiming that it was the author himself who censored words like 'fat' and 'crazy'

denying them an audience is one thing, editing the books after he died then pushing the edited versions out to anyone who was dumb enough to buy them on Kindle is another
