My twitter account was blocked in 2020, but you shouldn't need to be signed in just to see pictures on the site due to their permissive hotlinking policies.
My first assumption is some sort of privacy preserving browser extension or router setup that blocks the various domains that serve twitter resources based solely on url.
I never used twitter much until I learned the trick to making it not suck
you only follow and click on the things from people you think are REALLY cool and eventually after begrudgingly using it enough for months one day you will find a plethora of cool shit. I remember the day it happened because that tweet was funny as hell, loldrugs fitMC video games the robots know what I like. Robot AI sex wifes are gonna destroy humanity
Same exact thing happened to me with google news, the algorithms are GOOD unless you turn all that shit off cuz your a big real life criminal can't track mr. off the grid flip phone that hand cranks his cpu in a faraday cage and don't want a robot AI wife
