I'm buying a BRAND NEW set of tires after work.

That's right...a brand new set. I've booked the appointment for 4pm this afternoon at Firestone. What prompted this turn around from buying used tires?...well if all goes well in the next 3 months or so my commute will no longer be through the city but 50 miles in from rural Tejas. I figure until I get a feel for the drive, the roads and the commute I want new tread to tread this new path on.

I'm not ruling out a return to used tires in the future...It just feels right to have a full tread pattern for roads unknown.
The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!

please explain in empirical terms how do 20-25% more rubber facilitate you feel for the new drive/driving condition.

The new roads are going to be more likely to have road hazards I suspect as I know a lot of farm equipment drives on them...as such newer/deeper tread MAY help when the vehicle drives over an errant piece of metal, nail, wild hog etc...saving it from a puncture.

ETA: Bear in mind I'm still getting cheapy new tires $59 each.

Tires for that amount are going to be shit quality rubber (wil either be really hard or really soft)will wear quickly and more than likely unevenly unless your suspension is 100% and will chop easier.

    Reviews dont mean much imo.
If the tires wear irregularly the shop will place blame on you from the lack of maintenance unless they are the only ones who regularly inspect, repair and sell you the tires for the vehicle.
Just trying to help you buddy

New tires installed, of coures the tire shop tried to rip me off by adding extras I didn't ask for...wheel alignment "take it off I didn't ask for that", "road hazard insurance" take it off I didn't ask for that.

    dont be transphobic.

wheel realignment procedures are essential for your tires.
