That was a hard drive adapter sold separately and developed AND the released in the same quarter as. the Tandy 1000 HD. And it didn't cost anywhere near 5k. You made some shit up and got called. Deal with it and move on Billy Goat.

Keep that thought. The article clearly states it was a separate upgrade for the III/4 available in late 83. That was way after the model III release and s3veral mon5hs aftervthe 4s release. It was an external peripheral.

Radio Shack introduced a 5 MB external hard disk for the TRS-80 Model III/4 in 1983.

We will use it to de-program the plasmatronic warhead in the year 3042.

if you adjust the inflation value on the dollar it's like 400 dollars of what the dollar was back then. but still it's nice to see it holds value.

People who live in LA and save a bunch of this shit you can rent it out to Hollywood for period piece films. they usually scramble to find these to rent for office scenes. probably like 100 dollars a day or some shit.

Are you trying to say that the extra $100 above the retail price is worth 400 1983 dollars or what?

If so then why can't you get 4 times more anything for $100 today than you could in 1983?

If not are you trying to say that the $100 in 1983 is worth $400 of today's dollars? If so that, while perhaps not mathematically accurate, is correct in that a dollar would buy way more 40 years ago. But if you paid $1400 in 1983 you only realized a 7.1% profit. Considering a cumulative price increase of 198.00% since 1983 your profit percentage is cut almost in half by inflation.

I guess if your trying to say you would have have to make $400 profit in 1983 to equal $100 profit today it makes sense even if your estimate is off by 200%.

Either way you're meds need adjustment.

No. Stop being purposly annoying now

1400 dollars is worth about 400 now. its like 3.3x less valued than 40 years ago.

    edited: just looked it up

OK I was close but not spot on

$100 in 1983 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $298 today, an increase of $198.00 over 39 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 2.84% per year between 1983 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 198.00%.

so nearly 3x. so 1/3rd of 1400 is about 433 bucks. so 1500 today was worth 520USD back then.

I already knew all of that. But I'm glad I could help you learn it.
