No it isn't, the instinctive urge to gather and collect things dates back to when humans struggled to survive, they would gather and collect anything that could be used/eaten or traded, it creates a comfort zone...just as collecting money creates that comfort zone. It also tells other members of the tribe you are successful "look at all my stuff" and being successful mean you are more likely to attract more and better quality mates.
