2022-04-15 at 10:19 AM UTCThey planned to take Ukraine and Moldova in one swoop but due to how Ukraine is resisting and the equipment they are getting from nato they had to change their plans and are mostly just focusong on ukraine for now or really even donbass. But Poland and Baltics have to be next if they succeed and this is really about geopolitics and not just resources or ethnic/land disputes:

It's Caspian Report. It's fairly well respected.
At the end of the day he's right, and one look at the map will show you why. Russia is massive, and Moscow has spent the last 1000 years more or less at continuous war in order to grow the country so large.
Nowadays, even though Russia has a demographic decline and below replacement birthrate, especially among its core demographic, the old idea that they need to be continuously grabbing little incremental bits of land and fighting in order to be safe remains.
Unfortunately Russia cannot be at peace until that culture changes.
Ukraine are more or less the same, Kyiv keeps trying to expand too, although Kyiv is so pathetic it's territorial ambitions are like a little barking dog more than anything else.
We need to see what happens when Poland or Hungary decide to grab bits back from Ukraine. -
