oday, I booked an Uber.
As scheduled the car arrived. It was not a premium car plus the air-condition of the vehicle was not working.
First reaction:
“I must cancel the trip and book another cab”.
But, then I thought to myself – ‘what difference would it make to me, after all my ride is only of 10–12 minutes’?
Answer was ‘None’. ‘It would do me no harm’.
So, I took this cab and sat with windows open.
I sat in front with the driver and after giving him a good look talked a little with him.
The fellow said, he does not get to sleep much for he drives 15-18 hours daily. He is trying to muster money to meet the education expense of his daughter. He does not have money nor time to repair the AC and keep the car well maintained.
As I got down off the car…. I realized he is just like everyone working to earn decent wages. He is an honest person who is working hard to meet the needs of his family. And I might have helped him today, in someway.
If you ever get to reject a cab for it is ordinary or the AC is not working, give it a thought.. you could be helping someone
