2022-02-08 at 4:23 AM UTCantebellum means pre-war. the confederate style plantation homes came in different structures but the classic one you speak of is called neo-classic back in the early-mid 1800s. antebellum is used as a generic term though. it's Spanish colonials oak. not adobe as you find in California and Mexico. but it has spanish and french influence
this is one. this gets confused with a queen anne but it's an antebellum neo classic

antebellum means pre-war. as in pre-civil war era. then I said "however antebellum is now used as a generic term"
but there were many style of antebellum homes. not all had the porches with columns wrapped around the entire house.

LOL someone walked into my room when I was on the shitter and closed the door. however room service stated it wasn't them. and they're key-cards like fob cards. so they're randomly re-encoded. I think the Fed-er-Al had me on Watch.
twice it happened too. I told the guy that the indoor lock mechanism was unlocked. only thing that kept them from entering was the chain.
I was sleeping and woke up, then the next morning it happened when I was on the shitter. maybe they thought I was gone.
no one cleans the rooms at 9:30 at night -

LOOK I'm not an architectural design engineer. I didn't have an interest in it until later in life. like my 20s. Well I always liked old houses. but then when I took up 3D modeling around age 30. I became more fascinated with it. the reason you have so many of those columns isn't just for aesthetics. it serves a purpose in marsh land regions. soft soil. they would have to lift the homes on jacks and brace under the columns every decade or so. they're a mother fucker to upkeep.

Do you actually live in NOLA? That's literally the place I've wanted to live mote than anywhere else. Louisiana altogether, fuck, I gravitate to all things Louisiana, I was literally arguing with my friend about jambalaya 5 minutes ago, I love Treme, "gypsy rose" aka mommy dead and dearest, NBA youngboy, Kevin Gates even that season of the real world where they're in NO. It's honestly the only place in the US I have a real desire to travel to and plan on sneaking over the border someday (tons of routes) to travel there. I watch touristy YouTube shit about NO sometimes too.
I literally watch "swamp people" just to work on my cajan dialect. I can speak French a bit but I imagine it would he a bit different from the French im used to hearing (quebecois) but not entirely dissimilar -

It's actually very fascinating. I mean you can go crazy doing virtual structural design with drafting or 3D software. but unless you have a proper brace for loads (load bearing beams and truss and all that) it will just be a simple house drawing on paper. it wouldn't stand in the real world killing everyone inside.
yep, you should take some part time courses in the field and see if it interest you and continue on through college. you wont have time to be so depressed.
