I have worked with many immigrants and white folx and very rarely does anyone have any aspirations to do anything except make slightly more money and go shopping for a new TV on the weekend and those juicy vacation days. Maybe everyone is just a realist satisfied with that but it's always made me depressed when my life starts looking like nothing but a game of snakes and ladders
I think a lot of people use "starting a family" as an excuse to not want to do anything more with their lives.
They are always the first to say "hey man I don't want to be here any more than you" and then ask me to come in early with them for that juicy OT and i'm told it looks bad if I don't, like okay? I don't fucking care what looks like what. I make more money selling cocaine and trading crypto.
People just don't get it. I have quit so many jobs because I just want to keep my head down and be normal a mindless worker drone but they try and turn you into a corporate drone and play the ladder game GOTTA START AT THE BOTTOM TO GET TO THE TOP TAKE THIS MOP AND SCRUB THE FLOOR AND MAYBE AFTER ONE YEAR YOU CAN SCRUB THE WALLS AND THEN THE BIG BUGS AS JANITOR
It's like modern work culture has gone from selling your labor into some socialization bullshit where your boss adds you on facebook and likedin to message you the work schedule. even at the lowest blue collar trade school tier job and everyone complains about that work culture 2.0 corporate bullshit but what can you do.

the regulatory structure of society does not allow for much in the room of personal wealth. 100 billion isn't that much "wealth" if you think about it. There is not 10 billion US DOLLARS in Jeff Bezo's acccounts, his worth comes from owning stock in a valuable company. He probably has a few billion but the system would not be able to handle a person with a trillion dollars in a savings account.
Banks would not be able to pay interest at a certain point. -

2021-10-05 at 2 AM UTCI never cared much for a conventional career or rules for that matter, i make my own rules. I used to work for an electrical company, it was a pretty sweet gig, but these days i'm pretty much self employed. Not in the traditional sense, which is for the better. No regulations or government red tape. And i'm not a drug dealer either. i don't need to leave the house to make money.
Even when we had state mandated curfew for covid, i didn't really care about it because the people in my circle don't think twice about hanging out all night. Only thing we couldn't go do is go to the bar, which is whatever. I'm not a big drinker.
I realize this isn't for everyone. And i'm sorry the global situation has affected you negatively, but to answer the question in the OP, my life hasn't really be affected. -
