It was yet again a failure of various intelligence goals and policy decisions that eroded into eventually unavoidable failure. Until 2014 or so, the situation could have been salvaged. But since 2015-2016 we should have immediately begun hauling and exporting allied equipment and ass as quickly as possible and GTFOd, eating the short term hit in public opinion for Trump (because who cares, nigga could spin cyclones to his advantage if he wanted to) to save a lot of time and money and a million tragedies and free arms to the Taliban.
