I know we’re not supposed to develop an attachment to our patients but I really really miss Rosie..I called her Rosie Posey…
I have a nickname for everyone lol
But she was my Rosie Posey..she came from another facility that did not do a good job with getting her back on her feet and back home….the only black woman in our facility..when she came in I really really wanted to do her hair ..I could have been a beautician but that’s not my calling
There’s no beautician at our facility that knows black hair care so she was at the mercy of anyone who would do it …
I’m the one who did it ..I made sure Rosie was always with a great hairstyle..I bought the supplies with my own money and it was our bonding thing …
Her family really loved me ..they told my boss I was amazing ..and that’s when I won that extra PTO at work…because they spoke so highly of me
Her family came to get the rest of her stuff and I was in a patients room and didn’t know …
When I came out someone said they had just left and I ran outside to see if I could catch them
They were pulling out and heading down the street but turned back in when they saw me
We hugged and they told me how much they appreciated me and how much Rosie loved me and I was crying wells of water down my face lol
They told me before she came to our facility she was a shell of who she used to be …
They said she’s back to who they know as their mother and she said she will always remember me 😭
The other day it has hit me that I’d never see her again probably and I got to boohoo’n and I messaged tiff that I felt bad I didn’t get to see her the day she left…
I felt immense guilt..but tiff made me feel so much better about it ..she really knows first hand how I feel about knew what to say to stop my guilt…
