Fuck Windows 10
-
2017-01-05 at 9:13 AM UTCI've spent days working on my cousin's gaming PC, because I haven't had much time to sit down and deal with it, but mostly because Windows 10 is such a massive piece of shit. I had it all set it up and running just fine, but then I installed the anniversary update and found out that it doesn't play nice with AMD GPU drivers. I've never had this much trouble with any previous versions. Vista wasn't even this bad.
Now, I've got to reinstall everything because Windows doesn't detect the video card at all. I'd really like to fix the current OS and clone it to a 120gb SSD (currently on the HDD), but I think it'd just be better to start fresh.
What do you nigganauts think about Windows 10? -
2017-01-05 at 10:42 AM UTCLooks slick, is shit. Also, with all the telemetry it sends you might as well be hooking your PC directly up to the NSA's servers. But anyway, if your cousin is all about that gaming lifestyle why isn't he running SteamOS? Or is he/she some type of Call of Duty faggot. Only good thing about Windows 10 in my opinion is the integration of the Bash shell which has been the standard on Linux for as long as anyone cares to remember.

My gripes are mostly about bugs and bullshit like being unable to run unsigned drivers. After the 1607 update I lost the GPU and rolling back to the previous build didn't help a thing. Tried resetting the BIOS and even pulling the CMOS battery for a half hour and still no go. At that point I said it fuck it and settled on starting over, since I had 100gbs of steam games and everything else important backed up on flash drives, anyway. By that time it was already late because I still had to feed kids, bath kids, and get them ready for school in the morning. -
2017-01-07 at 12:52 AM UTCI stopped doing Windows about three years ago. I use to occasionally boot up Windows 7 due to certain software only being available for Windows, and everytime I thought 'what a steamy pile of shit'. Linux > Windows for those that are more technical, but I guess for a typical user/gamer, Windows serves a purpose.
I had always thought that...
Windows == Business Use
Linux == Technical Use
Mac == Leisure/Hobby Use -
2017-01-07 at 1:26 AM UTCGaming is a multi-billion dollar industry, after all...
I dual boot Ubuntu for basically the same reason. I'll probably convince my cousin to do the same. He has an iPhone, so next mission is to show him how much better Android can be, especially when he can easily learn to write his own code and run his own apps. That, to me, would be very cool to do as a kid. Still fun as an adult, but kid me would have been amazed. -

See above this post.
Games are business for technical users and leisure for average users, so if you're playing or developing, then you should be using Windows for best experience. For now, Linux can't really make that claim. -

7 is the new XP and companies that value intellectual property are not going to switch any time soon, and once they do it means there's a Windows version without all the telemetry bs.

Yeah generally just "respect Windows". Install it first, let it do it's thing, and linux dual boot can access it just fine. It's an NTFS file system as opposed to EXT, that should all be hidden/abstracted from the game itself. -
2017-01-07 at 8:05 AM UTCHonestly, I think gaming is best on consoles. It just makes more sense to me.
Maybe someday they make a lightweight OS that is strictly for gaming, then gamers can just boot into it when they want to play. Or is this what 'SteamOS' is? I really don't game much but I am looking at buying a gaming laptop... -

windows 10 is great. if you can't figure it out, maybe computers aren't for you, because they've been dumbing down computers so niggermonkeys could operate them for ages.
it's your fault for buying shitty AMD cards. just get fucking Nvidia. they 'just work'. i don't even know why AMD makes video cards anymore. -
2017-01-15 at 9:20 PM UTCAnything but windows 7 for general shit is plain retarded, the only reason people upgraded to 10 was because they bought 8 and thought it'd be good/thought that maybe they'd regret it when they had to buy in the future so got the free spyware inside version, literally what does it do better than 7 besides make government surveillance easier?

Ended up replacing the whole thing. The GPU was dead. Tried to save it but couldn't.
The replacement hasn't given me serious issues even after the anniversary update. I noticed there was an AMD driver installed right along side it, which was probably missing on the original despite Windows' insistance otherwise. It makes sense after a build update.
And, fuck you mud farmer. Your posts are about as useful as a bag of ragged dicks. -
