2021-02-23 at 12:15 AM UTCSeveral years ago I said I thought it was a really worrying sign, that hundreds of thousands of adults were queuing up to see characters that were created 50 years ago to entertain 12-year-old boys. That seemed to speak to some kind of longing to escape from the complexities of the modern world, and go back to a nostalgic, remembered childhood. That seemed dangerous, it was infantilizing the population.
This may be entirely coincidence but in 2016 when the American people elected a National Socialist satsuma and the UK voted to leave the European Union, six of the top 12 highest grossing films were superhero movies. Not to say that one causes the other but I think they’re both symptoms of the same thing – a denial of reality and an urge for simplistic and sensational solutions.
Of course you would be a fan.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

2021-02-23 at 12:24 AM UTCI like comic books so I therefore hate non print adaptations. It's fucked up how every single one is worse and more pandering. Not one is excusable

2021-02-23 at 12:48 AM UTCImaging thinking a guy who supported gay marriage and trans rights was a 'national socialist'.
Poor Hitler must be spinning in his grave.
EDIT: Sorry that was poor taste Hitler doesn't have a grave -

otherwise i think the cult status capeshit achieved during the 10s is just another symptom of the infantilisation of western culture, there are people i know who can't discuss any social or political issue without framing it as a harry potter or marvel movie conflict or narrative and it's cringey and i stopped talking to them
