its been 31 years now. I read somewhere that its in the mid 70% in the next 20 years. honestly they don't know when.
I live in what's called The Flatlands or 'The Flats' in purple. everything in purple could be leveled in a quake the size of 1906. Yet many Victorian homes survived because they knew how to build houses back then. all the curvature in the hand crafted homes survived 3 large quakes in the past 130 years since they were built but many old brick and mortor types will collapse. and many new homes built after 1906 to replaced damage homes were done hastly and illegally without permits they found out. much of it was built with debris from 1906. even in the 1800 the city of San Francisco had strict building codes because of the 1860s and 1880s quakes that occurred.
but much of todays buildings wont survive most likely. most built cheaply in the 1940s and 50s after WWII when servicemen liked the weather and stayed
