I didn't grow up in houses with thermostats. if it was hot you opened the windows, and if it was cold you wore more layers, used a space heater, and maybe a hot water bottle at night.
I have one now, but I'll only turn it manually if it gets above 77 in summer or below 64 in winter.
I turn off the heat during the day, as long as it’s not getting below 40. My place heats up quick. I do the same thing in the summer, unless it’s oppressive heat that will effect my dogs. I started doing this 20 years ago and cut my heating/cooling bills in half.

You have the ability to control the climate, and you decide to simulate the seasons. Why? For what purpose? If there is a temperature you find comfortable in one season, why for is that not the temperature at which you are comfortable in the next? Lunatics. Mad men. Heathens.
For some reason my smart thermostat has a random function that fluctuates between anything and whatever, so I’ve chosen that for my day-to-day, but I like it around 62º when company is over to keep them from staying long.
The following users say it would be alright if the author of this
post didn't die in a fire!
