lol they had to get lucky just to beat a force on their home turf against a force from 5000 miles across an ocean, and back in 1776. How embarrassing, especially when they came back in 1812 and burned down the white house.
Not to mention the vast majority of Britains fighting forces were otherwise engaged fighting Napoleon over in Europe at the time. America was just a little side war for us. To you guys it was everything.

Well yeah I get it, tumbledown was a much harder objective and one that was taken immediately following the battle of goose green and in conjunction with taking mount William and 3 other nearby mounts and even once they were all taken wireless ridge was still ahead of them before they could get into port Stanley. But they got stuck in and did it. The paras and marines that fought said after that despite every instinct telling them to stop or retreat the only option was to keep moving forward, and that's what they did. Because that's how you achieve those kind of objectives. That's where the Americans went wrong on hamburger hill, they stopped and allowed themselves to get pinned down. Then they went and called airstrikes on themselves, lol.

Vietnam was a draw, at worst, for the US. We killed more gooks than they killed honkies. We weren't trying to occupy Vietnam. We didnt want the land. That's the only other way you measure success. But we shouldn't have been there in the 1st place. -

Why did they care so much? At the senior levels the cold war was more or less fake, the same proximate groups ran both systems, and they had no interest in upsetting their hierarchies, or the system whereby their propaganda and military-industrial complex machinery was propped up against each other.
I don't think it's coincidental that Vietnam happened when it did, right at the time of the 1965 immigration act for instance. It certainly contributed to the collapse of the old US regime.
