So my guess is consoles are here to stay for at least 15 more years.
15 years from now SoC and mobile VR will be so advanced that the console experience could be done right in VR on a virtual screen or third person vr perspective (floating camera) so maybe eventually consoles will be phased out and replaced by hmds and streaming.
That's one possible path
Another is
Consoles stay and act as cheaper devices for tethering high end vr and screen based gaming continues for 20 or more years
