Never used LED before. They have gotten a lot cheaper and higher quality over the years for sure

If I had a full time job I wouldn't know what to do with myself and all the money except a lot of drugs. My last full time job all people talked about was buying shit. I don't fit in with that lifestyle because all I play is 10 year old games like minecraft. The only thing I spent money on is weed and when you have a quarter pound and smoke daily there is nothing else to spend money on. I used to put my entire paychecks into bitcoin because I was bored.

I have been thinking about getting into buying sealed magic the gathering boxes and sitting on them though. That needs a lot of capital investment.

Customs will probably open the packaging.

It's easy enough to find cheap but good quality LED bulbs and holders and second hand furniture to turn into a growing area. You don't need mylar, all you need is some white paint to line the inside, which works almost as well, and maybe some tinfoil to line on the soil. You could get some mesh and do sea-of-green or similar and train the plants (even if tomato or whatever) to grow on a grid and stop them growing too high. For filtration a couple of computer fans and hob-enhancements would work to reduce odours massively. Being indoors your plants get the benefits of an enriched CO2 environment.

It's a project I have thought about doing, but never quite had the time and also the money at the same time. Perhaps I'll try something this winter.

It's a 10 year old collectors item worth almost a thousand dollars so I would be taking them to court if they did that. The value goes down significantly if it isn't sealed and it would pass any kind of x-ray scanner test for organic materials.

There is stuff called black and white poly that's very cheap in bulk. I have used that before. It's my favorite because you can cut it to any size and flip it around for the dark cycle

They have laws which shield them from being sued. They can open and inspect anything, and they most probably will.

    What is a dark cycle?

They have to have a reason to open something. They can be held liable for damaging someones property without a reason.

They know what magic cards are too because people have been busted ordering counterfeit ones from China. that would be the only reason they could open it is if they suspect it's fake cards meant to scam people but it's sealed product coming from a verified seller in USA. It would be a different story if it was coming from China or some other sketchy country.

I wouldn't be too worried though. I've been ordering things from overseas for many years and never once had anything inspected by customs.

Would you remember to flip the fabric every couple of hours like that?

why do you need a $1000 firewall, do you even know how to configure it

I don't really need it, but I kinda want it. Im Slowly learning the one that I have, the new one just has a higher throughput.

You ever just spend money for the fuck of it? Maybe its bad, but fuck it.

p.s. whats a good firewall? I was told to go for commercial types to avoid the pitfalls of consumer grade products. I dont use about half the options of the one I have now tho.

depends on what you want it for, what you need it to do. the cheapest/most effective option is to get a cheap mini PC with a few additional network cards (depending on your setup) and install smoothwall or pfsense on it. both also offer preinstalled hardware with included support if you want to go that route, but they're also both open source so there's nothing stopping you from installing them on whatever.

PS. I've used and configured pfsense for work, found it to be pretty intuitive and reliable. Haven't had experience with Smoothwall but heard good things.

A rule-based software firewall is all that's required.

throughput can be a problem, and if you get malware'd local code will be able to tamper with or disable the firewall.

also in the case of networks with multiple workstations, you'd need to update every machine's software firewall every time a rule needs to be changed.

also if you're interested in packet inspection, VPN tunneling, complex rules etc. a local software firewall might be able to do it, but it'll significantly impact general performance

I have a friend that set up smoothwall on a raspberry pi and added several ethernet ports with a USB3 adapter. he only has 2 machines behind it so the setup is more than enough for his needs; a fully configurable firewall with enterprise features for like $60
