    Kind of like this place.

Japanophiles and NEETs are the coolest and most interesting people.

    Sites like iichan and wtfux.
    It's all dead now.
4chan stopped being what it was in 2008, iichan several sites from the mid 00s are gone.
All that's left are turbo-newfag sites like 8chan.
7chan is still around but I never liked those normie douchebags.

I really want to build a website in the same vein as old-school imageboards and websites.
Besides HTML and PHP what other programming languages do I need to know to run an imageboards and general website.

Also I might run a shoutcast station in the same style as a real radio station in that I will host it and give commentary about the songs.

Why write new software when the same shit every chan site ever has used is freely available?

You have idiots thinking theyre cool because they were on 8ch during the early days of that site but those fucking kids have never even heard of iichan, it's sickening.

Or 12 yrs ago just isn't old...I've got underpants older than that.

And just to clarify this thread is about futaba style imageboards.
In the west these sites didn't exist until 2003 when Christopher Poole launched 4chan, although there are a couple other sites that came out the same year that might predate 4chan.

"An imageboard is a type of Internet forum that revolves around the posting of images, often alongside related text and discussion. "

If you don't mean that then you don't know what an imageboard is...

Again they've been around a LOT longer than 2008/2003 etc...

    Fucking lol

    We're running in circles.

This thread is about futaba style imageboards, which began in the 00s.
It's what 4chan was originally inspired by and modeled after.

    http://www.2chan.net/index2.html

When I say imageboards I am specifically referring to that style of site.

Then maybe you should learn to communicate better and say "I miss the early futaba style imageboards".

...So you can read/speak Japanese huh?

I don't wear my silk ones very often due to their lack of absorbancy so they last a long time.

Anyway old imageboards culture in the west is mostly dead.
The only site still around from the old days that carries on the culture is 7chan, I would say 420chan but it has been overrun with newfags for more than a decade.

I still go to 4-ch (a textboard) to get a fix of the old culture but that site will probably disappear in a few more years like iichan.

My goal is to build an imageboard that keeps the culture and mindset of early imageboards alive.
Meaning, a focus on otaku culture, early 00s style memes and humor and the same good old design.
No kek or pepe, no r9k tier normie shit, no Qanon or based shit, just the good old classic imageboard culture.

Anime and Playstation are not Japanese culture.

Futaba imageboards and whatever the fuck you're thinking about are two entirely different things.
Imageboards are websites in the design of 2chan.net.
