So what...that's life, you win some you lose some. People lose their savings in all kinds of ways, gambling, theft, some young 20yr old fleecing you of everything you own, Nigerian Princes, etc etc.
Again, it happens to someone everyday...the world continues to turn regardless. Banks at least have some protections in place to ease that pain (via FDIC). -

Off topic, your question has been answered. The problem as only been happening for a couple of months, the banks have reserves, business continues, they are making $$ out of the gov backed loans being issued etc.

But to answer the quote, plenty of people have survival skills, I myself own a sleeping bag, camping stove and personal water fil-ter straw, as well as knowing how to fish and identify edibles in the forest. -
