2020-03-27 at 11:35 AM UTCYeah he tried to keep it from us, or play it down because he didn’t want the economy to tank, well it’s fucking tanking. Now he won’t help the states, they’re on their own. States are bidding against each other and the feds for ventilators. He is causing Americans to fight against each other for life saving equipment instead of making a national registry of all this equipment/ventilators. So much for us coming together to battle this, we’re on our own.

2020-03-27 at 11:38 AM UTCI wouldn't give a cent to commie socialist cities harboring illegal aliens in sanctuary cities either. That money is not for criminals in the country illegally, it's for legal citizens of the country.

2020-03-27 at 11:53 AM UTCWe should have started preparing for this in January when trump’s intelligence agencies told him this was gonna hit us hard. They told him the same thing in February when trump was calling it a “democrat hoax”. Wasted time=wasted lives.

Yeah, don’t believe a word that man says. Problem is we only have 1 person we can count on for the truth and trump doesn’t like it. Dr Anthony Fauci.

Requires context.
Trump did not imply the virus was a hoax, just the negative media coverage surrounding his administration’s response. Which is probably what you meant, but it’s easy for someone else reading that to misunderstand and miss the point, which is that by downplaying the virus’ severity, he wasted valuable time that could have been used more productively.
To answer OP’s question, there was never gonna be any stopping the spread of this virus. The main concern from the start should always have been to use what little time was bought by the travel restrictions enacted by the administration to ramp up testing to slow the spread as much as possible, and increase production of vital medical supplies (perhaps by invoking the Defense Production Act in January instead of last week). Instead, they used that time to prematurely claim victory and basically carry on like nothing was happening for the next month and a half.
In any case, it’s definitely too late now. They aren’t going to be able to manufacture enough ventilators in time. Hospitals will inevitably be overrun within the coming weeks and many people who perhaps could have been saved, will die.
Do I blame trump, yes -

Strangely enough his approval ratings are as high as they’ve ever been right now. Most simple minded idiots automatically feel more “patriotic” during times of crisis. Bush Jr, who was a fuckin borderline retard, had approval ratings in the 80’s and 90’s after 9/11 -

He back-peddled the next day realizing how stupid he sounded. He’ll say anything at his rallies to rile up the crowd. -

Were you trying to rebut me or agree with meBut the following day, after the death of the first American from coronavirus in Washington state, Trump said that when he used the word “hoax,” he was referring to Democrats finding fault with his administration’s response to coronavirus, not the virus itself.
Even after Trump explained his remarks, some Democrats — including former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg — continued to wrongly accuse Trump of describing the coronavirus as a “hoax.” -

It looked like you said he didn’t call it a hoax, but he did, then back-peddled the next day. There’s no question that the president described the disease as the Democrats’ “new hoax” at a political rally on Feb. 28 in South Carolina.
