The trick is not to sell yourself but to sell your creations.

Banksy hasn't done any advertising yet his shit can sell for millions.

Well no, being a recognized artist isn't the luck of the draw. If you have the talent you will be noticed.

not really. most of the good ones were never noticed or only post mortem. some people dont reslly tey or have confidence in themselves or like me are even socisl to advertise or tslk to people about their work. plus sometimes its roof sr ahead of its time or from a diff era. thats all.

But they are recognized...I wouldn't say it was "most" either.

I cited a present day one "Banksy" who did nothing to advertise his work or particularly tried to pursue a career in it, his shit can and does sell for millions and he is still an elusive character in that he isn't even "known" to the general public.

The point is your social anxiety or lack of recognition isn't the reason when everyone here has told you you have the talent of an Earthworm, Jim...

how do you define talent. it is entirely subjective. stuff that has meaning or is differnet from the rest or norm may in fact be the real talent. someone who only values realism will find no talent in the popular illustrator pen tool illustrations with all the bright colors popular these days for instance either.

If it is commercially successful and people willingly spend their money on it en masse that would be an example of (recognized) talent.

Any work where the vast majority of observers approve of it would equate to the artist/author/singer/etc having talent.

Another example of unpaid talent would be someone able to do something that most others can't...flying for example. That would be an undisputed talent and not subjective at all.

i totally disagree. in that case shit that is popular means its good to you and you seek validation from others. that makes you just a follower. in that case rap music is awesome too and artistic about gangstas and guns because its popular. shit that is the best imo isnt popular or known like retro or pisel games for instance vs call of duty.

    Non sequitur.

Like anything the majority set the "rules". If 99% of people say someone is talented, then talented they are..actual reality (if that could even be defined) wouldn't matter.

    Example:

You have a room with 100 people in it.

    99 are batshit crazy
    1 is sane

The 99 say they are the sane ones and the 1 sane one is the nut.

Society has deemed the 1 guy the nut...that's all that matters in the bounds of that society...the "truth/reality" is irrelevant and rejected.

I think OP has talent, he just doesn't do the hard work needed to get better.

isnt it kind of like saying that we men should strive to be like the fake suit type of men who get chicks or look for approval from chicks to feel wanted? we lose always if we do that.

No it's the same in communist and fascist ones too, they are told what to believe, what to like etc.

The Capitalists just fool you into thinking you are making a free choice when in reality you are influenced and driven by society...examples of that would be popular memes, fashion trends, viral videos etc.

Ultimately the type of society is irrelevant, the masses will always comply with whichever society they are part of.

no in those societies someone like stalin could hire one guy to rule over wll and have the final say no matter what the ignorant masses care to think.
