the american dream i know of is the ability to get a descent job that could afford one all the basic needs and wants in life like cars and houses and tv and basically be a consumer.
who wants to work all the way up to 65 if they could afford to stop at 55 ?

Smoke meth and learn to program.
Back in the day, some of the best programmers and hackers were also graphics designers. Back then, you had no choice, you had to know how to program in order to design graphics.
You're missing a skill because of shiny GUIs made for dumb people that allows them to put things together faster but in a much less efficient way. Some of the best books on programming in assembly were graphics books -

I am actually thinking of learning either JavaScript or technical writing but it’s hard to remember where all those blacks and statements go unless you do it all day every day. For web design I am thinking of just mastering all the wysiwyg or template based like dream weaver or WordPress or Weebly like programs rather than the actual html. -
