Pot is only illegal in the rest of the world because the USA pushed their propaganda on the rest of the world.
People wouldn't think twice about pot being dangerous if not for the USA.
Why would you need to smoke pot in Nazi Germany? Your time would be occupied working for an improved reich, and your free time you'd spend raising a family and building a house. Which the government ensures you, as a German citizen, are able to support yourself and future generations.

Cool wild speculation faggot. I'm sure hitler was a stoner.

    They made tobacco illegal...

Weed is not illegal because of the USA alone lol. There was legislature against it long before the US pushed its dick around

Cannabis was used as a medicinal extract all over the world. Including Germany. Nobody saw any need to ban it wasn't a particularly dangerous or addictive drug.
Until US industry wanted an end to hemp, they made up a bunch of propaganda and got it banned around the world.
I don't think any countries would've banned marijuana if not for the US. Again, it's not particularly dangerous or addictive.

    What legislature?

    Volksgesundheit und Gesundheitspflicht

Drug use was mostly the productive shit. Meth and morphine. Weed would be seen as counterproductive. For example, being a soldier caught drunk was punishable by death. I doubt weed would've fared well if it was popular at the time.

    You're over simplifying it.
Cannabis in Europe back then would've been sold as a tincture, not as a flower for smoking.
Also the Nazis never banned smoking. German soldiers were still rationed cigarettes throughout the war.
There's really no reason anyone back then would ever want to make a habit out of weed. They were too busy focused on other things like fighting a war and building shit.

As one historian wrote, “At Stalin’s personal order, 28 million men were given one glass of vodka a day for the next 4 years.” That amounted to over a billion liters of vodka annually, and the rationale behind such a massive expenditure of resources deserves its own study. At a time when other nations were limiting their alcohol production to support the war effort, vodka was a major factor of the Soviet war effort.

No wonder the Nazis lost the war. They weren't drunk enough.

While I don't doubt a soldier caught drunk could receive the death penalty, I have no reason to believe that was a common scenario. As you can see in the article above here, the Germans would order huge amounts of champagne before any offensive.

From what I've seen the US first brought in cannabis prohibition to deal with what they considered 'the mexican problem'.
