in plain term English:
as long as you live and believe in God, He will place His own Spirit inside you and will take it back when you die. -

the 'spirits' in this case is a metaphor for programming. -

the earth spun much faster around the sun in those days.
somehow after the flood the earth's orbit around the sun got longer and further thats what triggered the ice age. -

God reduced the human lifespan periodically because he's a dick
First time was after Adam and Eve ate from the one fucking tree that God said not to eat from for no apparent reason. Before then, humans were supposed to live indefinitely. This is also when he made childbirth painful and took away the legs from snakes. Adam was like 800 or 900 or some shit.
Then up until Moses you see people start living shorter and shorter lives. Noah was 600. Moses lived to 120. It's sometimes argued that quote meant 120 years till the flood though, but lives very clearly got shorter and shorter over time. After the flood Moses wrote about humans only living till 70 or 80.
So as you can see this is just thousands of years of temper tantrum and being spiteful to humanity because he gave us free will but still punishes us when we don't do exactly as he says. Like an abusive parent. -

if i gave you everything, but i also had the power to take everything i gave to you away from you. and when i gave you these things, i said to you, in order for you to keep everything i give, you just need to be a better human being and treat others like you want them to treat you.
