A lot of places are just scammy too. You gotta do your research. Like I'd feel pretty shit if I donated to the Trump foundation or Red Cross. Also food drives at the grocery store are just fucking stupid. I've worked at a grocery store and we'd throw out like a whole garbage bag of hot food every night. This is not including the stuff on the shelves that hits the expiration date but is probably still good. One time we threw out a pallet of chocolate just because they were changing the packaging. Not even expired. Policy said us employees couldn't take it and it went into a trash compactor with a camera aimed at it so it was impossible to steal.
Just an utter waste of food, fuckkk. Makes me mad. I read a post recently about someone going to Whole Foods and just taking shit off the shelves to put in their donation basket. -

thats pretty fucked up, this local grocery place (not heb) were getting ready to throw out a bunch of the same shit you just said and I was like I'll personally take it to the food bank as I was volunteering there.. and they were like yeah thats cool and I said I'll be right back im going to get my car, came back ten minutes later and they thru it all out. And I was like wtf?! and they were like you were probably just going to donate it.. its like yeah.. so I started harassing their business ever since. -

Many Americans are frivolous and wasteful, unfortunately. I try to be the opposite. Hell, I bothered to put a soap bar, with one scrubbing left, in a plastic bag, and brought it with me when I moved. -

I try to do the same but to be honest I get caught up in my life, but right now I have 5 almost empty canisters of old spice and I scoop it off when I really am in a pinch and put it in a baggy and use it. -

That's awful. They say it's a 'liability' to give away expired food. But just put it by the dumpster or some shit... It's so immoral and wasteful.
