Homophobia is very widespread in Mexican society. Between 2002 and 2007, 1000 people were been murdered in homophobic crimes, as the Chamber of Deputies revealed in May 2007, making Mexico the county with the second-highest rate of homophobic crimes in the world (after Brazil).

What is gopnik CULTURE? They don't have their own culture, only a behaviour of uneducated poor people. The "gopniks" that you see online are just an internet meme; almost nobody dresses/acts like this in Russia today.

Yes, and so are the people committing hate crimes on homosexuals. Mexico, like Russia, is a large and poor country, and it's fucking stupid to judge it by the uneducated masses. Just because you aren't familiar with the culture doesn't mean what you read in the news is how it is.
I haven't LIVED in Mexico but I've stayed for months at a time. At most like 3 or 4 months straight. I go yearly usually. I've been all over Jalisco. -
