Question about netflix kr amazon prime streaming or apple video

   If you use a smart tv capable of 4k but use either an hdmi or mini display port to connect a mac to it and you pay for a premium 4k plan, will netflix abide by the capability of the resolution of the tv and make it 4k or by the limits of the connected computer or mac? Will a native smart tv app only work if you only have an older 1080p imac or macbook air?
