Look I would love to get all my teeth knocked the fuck out, but I don't think my dentist or insurance is going to go for getting a crown when I can just get a filling. With the root canal I got earlier this year I tried to have it pulled but they didn't go for it. I wish I could make my own medical decisions, at least when it comes to my teeth, but I can't.
Really love the crown I have now though. Goddamn. If I could I would get it done on every single tooth. It's like a shield for decay that won't fuck up your jaw like implants can. -
2019-11-27 at 6:02 AM UTCThat's why I run w/ 2 dental policies Blue Cross Blue Shield & Delta. Choose my own treatment plan & have 2 limits to max out. Implants won't negatively affect the jaw unless the dentist didn't do due diligence & thoroughly check bone structure beforehand.
I've had a crown 20+ years on a cracked front tooth that shit's bulletproof lol. -

No they don't actually implants are better for bone structure & density than bridges etc. Sure there are scrub/fly by night dentists hopping on the trend without valid training but the good ones are doing some awesome work w/ implant technology. -

Yeah... Maybe if I was an old ass man like you. But they try to preserve the dental structure of young men like me -
2019-11-27 at 2:12 PM UTCGet a crown, problem solved and you get to keep your tooth (albeit ground down to a point).

2019-11-27 at 3:01 PM UTCRegarding crowns though...
4yrs ago I paid $2000 for a root canal and crown. $1200 for the root canal and $800 for the crown. 3yrs later I had the worse toothache I've ever had...on the tooth that had the root canal and crown. I went to another dentist and was surprised to hear that, no, the crown doesn't stop the tooth from going bad, I was also surprised as I thought the root canal was supposed to get rid of/kill the nerves.
The new dentist recommended another root canal and a new crown and also said he'd probably have to refer me to a specialist to do it as it was a "tricky one"
"How much?" says I..
"about 3k I imagine" says he.
"I've already spent 2k on this fucking thing I'll be damned if I'm spending another 3k on it, how much to pull it?"
"$186"
"PULL THE FUCKKKKKERR!"
eta: BTW I was so happy to be out of pain I forgot to ask for my crown back, it was a gold one too. -

You're old though. I had two dentists refuse to pull my tooth because I'm too young and they wanted to preserve the tooth. Like I said, implants and lack of teeth can fuck up the jaw as you age.
