Yes, I do know what you mean. What I notice is that you seem to automatically dismiss any music that doesnt fit your palate. "Normie tier" music as you affectionately refer to it as.
The thing is, I agree with what you're saying in terms of this new culture of mindless self indulgence, but music, and ANY song for that matter, in and of itself, can be "good." Guilty pleasures comes to mind.
I like some Taylor Swift songs, for example. Some Justin Beiber songs too. Do I like the overall crowd, the people that ADORE them, no. I dont.

i get what he's doing, when i was about 16/18 i wouldn't listen to anything other than house music and wouldn't even consider anything else as music. anybody who listened to pop or rock or anything else were all idiots who knew nothing. i was just a kid with that mentality most young boys have that i knew everything, and i certainly knew better than everyone else. then i grew up and my musical tastes broadened and i found myself listening to music for the sake of listening. and listening to what i enjoyed rather than to what i thought was cool and what i thought all my 'cool friends' would listen to and what would make me popular to them. i was just a dumb immature kid just like dickheadamori is. i'm sure one day he'll grow up himself and have a similar realization. but until then nothing anyone could say to him would make him realize otherwise, just have to let him mature in his own time.
