Japanese is a shitty language for autistic retards with no use except to watch anime. If you're going to make the effort to learn a language besides English, at least make it Chinese, Spanish or Hindi/Urdu.

I agree with the first two as Chinese is obviously useful and a spanish gives you 2 continents but I would say Arabic is much more useful than your obviously bias Urdu. Arabic is synonymous with Islam so it opens many doors for you and many countries have large arabic speaking populations. I know a frogs ribbit of french, enough to carry on an awkward conversation about nothing and it's been extremely useful in my life. Even the little bit of Arabic I know has been too. I just don't understand why someone would learn a language if not for the purpose of communicating and Japanese people don't even talk to each other

Japanese is the language of media consumption. That's pretty much it. Definitely not a productive choice of language for most people. You learn Japanese to better appreciate anime, manga, vidya games, etc. If you're a socially retarded person who doesn't like talking to people but you still want to learn another language, learning Japanese makes at least a little sense because being a weeb is kind of a lack-of-occupational hazard.

Japanese is the default language of humanity
Once the jews are eradicated and the Eurasian ethnoglobe is established, Japanese will be declared to lingua franca of earth.

I just told him Japanese is a shit language because its only practical application is watching cartoons without subtitles so he doesn't need to wait 2 weeks for the new episode of his favourite hentai to be subbed.

I feel the same way about Arabic. I can speak a fair amount of Arabic and read it with perfect fluency. When I was a kid I took qirat so I have impeccable Arabic pronunciation and I can produce sounds like the "Duad" with better accuracy than most native speakers. No bias here, it shares the script with Urdu and I can read it whereas I cannot read Sanskrit (or I can "read" it like Floyd Mayweather can read English) which I mentioned, even though Hindi is 99.99% the same as Urdu. But pretty much all I can do with it is read the Quran.

On the other there are like a billion people from the subcontinent and abroad that can at least roughly speak Hindi/Urdu even if their region doesn't natively speak it.

If you want to go into manufacturing and don't want to be completely lost with an interpreter between your every interaction, Chinese or Hindi/Urdu will help. Not because they don't speak English but you don't want to rely on it. You can actually shop around like a local rather than going through a "Chinese manufacturers that worked for me for X" reddit.

I didn't know Urdu shared the script of arabic although I did know hindi, sanskrit aand urdu were similar. I guess it's all context specific but there are a bunch of Indians and Paki's who know arabic and not so many arabs who know hindu or urdu. Farsi seems about as useful as urdu to me. You will also find people who do not speak english but speak arabic but I have yet to find anyone locally who cannot speak english but speaks urdu (although I have hindu).

I know I personally (or really anyone I can think of) would not have any use for learning Urdu but being who I am and having interactions with Arabs/Levantians on an almost daily basis, arabic has been extremely useful. Arabs run small businesses and import/export like a motherfucker and are notorious with the favoritism (I forget the actual arabic word) and cronyism so they'll pick a muslim who can speak some arabic (or can at least pick up what's being said between them) over the next man. I had one arab basically repent to me that seeing me has made him feel ashamed of distancing himself from his culture and religion. Of the 3 main dialects one is typically more formal and for business and one is casual (and also used in business). Come to think of it I imagine the Japanese business culture would have a different dialect and pattern than typical Japanese.

Anyways, to each their own but I've never imagined a use for Urdu in North America. The only pakistani I respect enough to learn their name (although I respect him a very great deal) speaks arabic and english. Same with Nigerians I know, they both speak arabic and english. Met some Malays too who speak arabic and english but never in my life have I ever met anyone who had Urdu as a second or even third or fourth language so I'm going to just go ahead and assume your fecal tongued mother language is going the way of the latino
