This game sounds interesting - you have to talk (presume it's voice/voip) your team-mates through defusing a bomb.

I'm a bit too autistic to want to actually talk to someone tho.

I've seen videos of people playing it, and it's pretty neat. I'm also too autistic to ever want to actually play it though. >_>

Also got FTL and Risk of Rain, haven't play RoR but FTL is good but unfair, all are going cheap right now, kotors and these 2.

I LOVE risk of rain, haven't tried the second one yet though.

    the soundtrack is outstanding

This is also true, but at the same time like even when games are on sale is it worth like $10 to have a game on Steam vs just downloading it for free with the crack? And if you use steam to catalog your collection of games, you can still add non-steam games to your library. Including pirated ones. So like... what ease, what convenience is there really? And does it actually counteract the expense? I just justify it as "normies will buy 3 coffees at Starbucks and get 30 minutes of enjoyment out of each for $10, so as long as I maintain a 90 minutes of enjoyment/$10 spent ratio nobody can talk shit".

You guys are seriously complaining about cracks? I've saved probably thousands of dollars by pirating games. It's worth the five minutes to unzip some shit and copy/paste.

You know how much i spent on royalty incest simulator per hour? Zero dollars.

Pretty much. Although the point I was making is that "because it's easier" can't stand on its own - without the motivation to support developers/the industry at large, there's really no justification to not pirate games. If it just comes down to convenience/ease, obviously working for x amount of hours to earn the money to purchase a game is going to be an infinitely greater inconvenience than the 0 hours of work that are required to copy a cracked .exe (and maybe a .dll) file into the install folder.

I've pirated enough visual novels that I don't wanna go through the effort and besides I've never spent much on pc games anyway, more or less never more than £10 for a single game for myself, hence why I'm buying during a sale.

I've had a pain in the neck trying to pirate games like GTA SA in that it would be missing files that I would have to track down some loose .dll's from the web, or if not that I could not find a SINGLE version 1.0 GTA SA crack that contained all of the audio files. There was no ambient or PEDESTRIAN audio, or commercials in the radio stations.

Now what is GTA without pedestrians and radio commercials? What shit is that worth? I needed the 1.0 version in order to play multiplayer and idk if they sell that online or not.

Also, I'm not pirating Jet Set Radio to save $1. It is literally losing money for me to do so. I don't care about the developers but some games you don't have a choice, also some old games you can't play on Windows 10 unless you buy the GOG/Steam version.

Obviously you don't need to pirate everything. I have a pretty big library on Steam but most of it I pirated to try before buying. I don't mind paying if it feels like it is worth it. It's just that a lot of shit does not seem worth it. Like I might buy the Sims 4 on sale or whatever but there is no way I'll pay for all that DLC that will end up costing several times more than the base game itself.

It's stupid to pay these exorbitant prices just because you enjoy the game. Nothing wrong with paying for stuff you enjoy but don't be a victim and drop 200 bucks on one game.

I can respect that too. I bought the Sims 3 without the DLC on Steam during the sale ($5 right now, and every DLC is about $5 too), but I couldn't bring myself to buy the - what would have amounted to ~$100 worth, even on sale - of DLC. So I actually refunded my stupid $5 purchase.

It's pretty awesome being in this position as a consumer, to be honest. It makes the decision to purchase pretty much totally subjective. Even if the alternative is kind of immoral. Eh. I just feel blessed to experience this ethical quandary. 30 years ago people wouldn't have had the choice.

The games industry has been ripping off their customers for decades. I wouldn't pay a cent for anything from them, when anything they put out is totally free elsewhere. I have no compunction whatsoever about ripping off crooks who think it's OK to steal, defraud and exploit their customer base. Looks great on 'em.

Frankly I don't think it's immoral at all. There are a lot of games I would have never bought had I not pirated them first. Sure you can just do a refund if you don't want it, but then you can only play like what is it two hours before you can't get a refund?

I mean, you're not actually stealing an item. There is no lost sale when you pirate a game besides your own, and it's up to you to decide whether or not you'd have bought it or not.

I bet you don't do the same shit for ROMs.

    "These exorbitant prices?"

Listen pal, video games are cheaper now then they ever have been in history by a landslide. It's almost scary how incredibly fast the devaluation of games is happening right now, even THE most expensive AAAA titles aren't worth half their value after a year, and a good portion of games are only worth 15% of the already super reasonable price of $60 that has been sticking around for what, like 15 years now? This is why top games are literally on life support a la DLC and season passes.

SEASON PASSES are important because it means they get all of your money for all of their products up front at full price, no refunds if you don't dig it. However, if you are a smart nigger who doesn't fall for the marketing telling you that you need to buy games as soon as they come out, you can get that game and all other games that year (or better yet, 2 years out) for a steal.

That said, buying a game for $60 in 2019 no DLC, is the furthest thing from "exorbitant".

Yeah, it's only 2 hours. I didn't even play it after buying. I knew I wanted the game, I've pirated it before, but the sort of "sword of damocles" that was the $100s worth of DLC made me actually back out of purchasing it in any form. So there's sort of two sides to the sword, I guess. When you put out over $100 worth of DLC you are definitely treading a fine ass line. Your content better be on fucking point, or catering to a very specific niche of guaranteed purchasers. There's not much between Sims 3 DLC and CK2 DLC except the particular brand of autism they're meant for. I dunno.

On the one hand yeah, on the other hand that's bullshit. If you're playing a game you couldn't have played without paying, there's a lost sale. But if the game is so shit that - after playing it - you would never consider actually paying for it, then the ethical failure could be said to be on the part of the developer rather than the player. Expecting money for an experience that's not worth money is not justifiable. The 90s were basically peak gaming, what with all the demo disks/freeware floating around.
