   What I wanna know is why only my wife's phone gets amber alerts. Mine and my daughter's don't and we're all on the same plan. My phone is actually the main line on the plan so it makes even less sense.

    all modern phones have proximity sensors these days.

    You probably have it muted. Amber alerts don't bypass the mute like other emergency alerts do.
