The reason why there is so much political gnashing of teeth about this is because most everyday (white, mostly) people really don't appear to care that much. More than you might think support the shooter, and many more than that see it as unfortunate but an inevitable response to Islamic terrorism and cultural aggression. You'd be able to verify this yourself by the comments virtually everywhere the video was posted if it weren't being blacklisted so hard.
