Theists of NIS, why do you believe?

Religion tends to be fuzzy and more a vague collection of values and a way of life than a rigid belief or system of knowledge.

I know that you want to switch the frame to box in believers so that if someone says something like "I believe in a higher power" then it must therefore follow that they believe that the Bible or whatever is literally true and the exact and infallible word of god, but besides a few fundamentalists almost no one in the West thinks that way nowadays.

In fact most of that sort of fanaticism seems to be dedicated to the new secular religion - political correctness/globohomo/dildolech/liberalism/whatever you call it. But that is more an apocalyptic cult than a religion. Regular religions affirm the existence of the supernatural and emphasise positive things, like the value of the believer, their society, and their way of life.

I have some fuzzy religious feelings myself, but I obviously don't box myself in in any way and certainly won't say anything is true or not true.

    Here is my logic.

If the universe is eternal, it suffers from the problems of infinite regress. If it had a first moment, then it suffers from the problems of the uncaused cause.

In what sort of scenario is existence possible while needing to worry about neither of these issues?

Imagine simulating a universe where the only elements are a particle that moves from the left to the right and collides with a wall.

An observer inside this universe might ponder as to how this strange universe came to be: if the particle was coming from infinity, why now this brick wall, and how did it cover the infinite distance between it and this wall? And if indeed the particle popped into existence from some arbitrary point, why? Why there and nowhere else? Why this particle? What structures this first event? But as the programmer of the simulation, I can simply set the particle to appear at some arbitrary position and internally it would be indistinguishable whether or not I did so, or if the particle came from infinity.

I think so too is the nature of our universe.

I like that. The HARD problem (like I fucking know what I'm talking about I only use one or two syllable words) is where did stupid "GOD" come from? I hate the concept of eternity. I hate it. The BEGINNING. there never was one? Name a beginning point and then tell me what happened BEFORE that.

Just to let you all know... I am actually God.

I guess, technically, that makes me a theist, since I clearly believe in myself.

Wanna know why I created the universe?

    Well...

    I ain't sayin' shit.

Me and my deity homies are up here watching you all for entertainment.

You know how you walk down the street and pay no attention to the ants you might accidentally step on?

That right there is how we view mortal Earthlings.

Watching you all squirm trynna discover the meaning of life...

    That's pure sport for us.

I like to imagine that the universe is some kind of grand, beautiful monadic godlike existence that is self sufficient in a way that is neither eternal nor finite, some type of causal loop of definite size but no start or end point.

Damn, I'm itchin' to try it.

I've been debating over going the plant route (San Pedro or Peruvian Torch) vs just getting some of the synthetic/extracted crystal...

I might just spring for both to experiment.
