2019-02-19 at 1:57 PM UTCI think I tried mephedrone once... I'm not 100% sure what it was... It was almost 10 years ago. I bought it online. It was some kind of stimulant, but it was not meth or coke. It almost certainly started with M (but so do lots of stimulants).
I remember it being not too bad, whatever it was. I'm not super into stimulants, though. But I am curious to try it again.

I've never done it, but like 15 years ago I was research how to synthesize it (methcathinone) because it looked easier than meth would have been.

"As for other ring-substituted N-methylcathinone derivatives, the most likely and straightforward route of synthesis for mephedrone is by reacting the suitably substituted bromopropiophenone with methylamine; the resulting product is always racemic. Therefore, mephedrone is most likely synthesised by bromination of 4-methylpropiophenone (1-(4-methylphenyl)-1-propanone) followed by reaction of the resulting 4-methylbromopropiophenone (1-(4-methylphenyl)-2-bromo-1-propanone) with an excess of methylamine or methylamine hydrochloride and an acid scavenger. The reaction is then quenched with gaseous or aqueous hydrochloride providing the hydrochloride salt that should be recrystallised. This is one of the simplest choices because the starting materials are often commercially available or easily synthesised. This requires similar equipment and chemical knowledge to that needed for the synthesis of e.g. amphetamine or MDMA"
How to make 4-methylpropiophenone
To a reflux apparatus add 100 mL of dry toluene and 47 g of anhydrous aluminum trichloride, with vigorous stirring, add 25 mL of propionyl chloride, after the addition, heat the mixture under reflux for 2h. After the reflux, the mixture is poured into 100 g of ice with 30 mL of conc. HCl, the organic phase is washed with 40 mL of water, 2×20 mL of dilute NaOH and 4×40 mL of water, the organic layer is dried over anhydrous calcium chloride and it is distilled with collecting the fraction of 230-236°C.
Addition of the propionyl chloride and refluxing for 2h
The distilled 4-methylpropiophenone
not exactly OTC but it's a start. Next I will post how to make propionyl chloride.

I'm working on that, via a couple different angles, but most people don't seem all that concerned.
The thing is, that would result in more people that might be willing to engage in discussion and... Might even bring a certain degree of expertise/knowledge/ideas to the table.
Threads like this just end up with the two of us, and then ultimately you just end up finding a solution on your own.
We need to establish a space that fosters more contribution and more back and forth.
I'm working on my Chem knowledge as best I can so I can be of more help, but more people would help too.

I wasn’t sure if this forum was supposed to remain hidden or not so but I can tell people about this forum so we have more people also it’s easy to get ethyl phenylacetate or gylcidate then all you gotta do is hydrolysis with aqueous hcl to get a oil layer of p2p . Then just make methylamine with 40% formalin and amonium cloride
