They work for like 6 moths after the warranty expires, then you got to get sum new ink and shit which cost as much as the printer then it dies and then you need a new printer.
I want an open source printer that I can maintain and repair by myself.

Dude I can't fucking stand printers... The one I have now is such a nuisance because it disconnects from the WiFi after like 10 minutes of activity, and requires a reboot just to reconnect. It also requires black tape over the colored ink cartridges if I want to print in black and white (but ran out of colored ink).

    Fuck printers.

I remember my dads printer back in the day when he ran his own business and had to print off all his invoices and the printer would run for like half an hour straight with those three pieces of paper like green white and yellow maybe? And it was just a sloooow process, *deeeet-deeeeeeeeet-deet-deeet-deet*, as the papers slowly come out and they were all CONNECTED, YES I forgot about that. All the papers were connected. Lol

I remember wasting an entire printer full of ink to print 200 pages of video games cheats in full color. Worth it.

I remember printing the shitty 2000 "version" of the anarchist's cookbook on the family inkjet back in the day and getting in trouble for using all the ink.

I haven't owned a printer since. Just use the library's printer or something, what do people do that they need to have a printer in their home for?

I have a cheap Samsung wireless laser printer and am very happy with it. It's convenient having the ability to print off whatever you want whenever you want.

I also have a HP inkjet that I got from a skip and it's just trash. It's only really there for colour jobs, or scanning in documents. I even need to replace the cartridges in it every year or so because they dry out. It also jams all the time.

Both run on generic cartridges, so they're cheap enough to run.

That's the business model (with inkjet printers)...they sell the actual printers at near cost or sometimes even a loss and expect to make the money back on ink.

When I worked for Compaq in the early 2000s we had a partnership with lexmark and the manager there told me their small inkjet printers had hidden code in the firmware to "kill" the printer at around 10,000 pages so you'd have to go buy another one.

    I never print anything.
My wife uses it to print coupons and recipes.
