Can you imagine this world of ours if every human reacted to situations exactly as everyone else did? Wouldn't that type behavior have led to human extinction much sooner than it does if it didn't?

Some folks don't have a working fright and flight response, do they?

Basic fear is what kept our ancestors alive...fear of predators, fear of putting your hand in fire, fear of jumping 100ft out of a tree when you were up there collecting apples and shit...fear of generally doing stupid twattish things.

It's fear that prevents you from doing all kinds of things on a daily basis...not necessary conscience fear and not necessarily YOUR personal fear rather than the knowledge of the negative consequences of an action previously attempted by others.

Fear is a good and important attribute to have and critical to being a human.

Is it "fear" you are alluding to or learned experience (common sense)?

Fear is what lead to learned experience/common sense...again without fear humans would be extinct before learned experience/common sense could prevent "new" humans from doing the same stupid shit. Learning hasn't stopped...so fear still has a role today and will continue to do so as long as human advancement (creating new fears) continues.

However, somewhat counter to fear/common sense being siblings...Americans for example have a fear of terrorist attacks and other such unlikely shit...you're more likely to die in a car crash than a terrorist attack but a fear of terrorism is greater in your average American idiot than their fear of driving to Walmart....demonstrating nicely that fear and common sense are not necessarily related.

Yeah but fear of real life actual threats and dangers, Having over exaggerated threats constantly repeated on 24 hour news reports daily is taking that basic emotion of fear and manipulating it for their own gain. Thats not right, the human psyche wasn't designed for that. Most people worry themselves stupid constantly over threats that will never happen and are often nowhere near them.

Exactly, many more people die taking selfies but you don't see that constantly on the news because there is no political value to be garnered from that. You can't sell false security to people from the danger of their own stupidity, there has to be a "monster" to make them believe they need protecting from.

Where you think stories of monsters, dragons, witches, demons etc came from? This isn't a new phenomenon, greedy control freaks having been using this system to control and exploit mass populations for millennia.

Do you ever notice TV now tries to induce anxiety. Even documentaries have suspenseful musical scores and try to make cliff-hangers out of crap like researchers not having their equipment in time. I can't watch Sky News because the anchors and reporters on it act purposefully like something major is happening, speaking in an urgent tone, like aliens were invading or something. And on every other channel Orange Man or Brexit about to ruin the world.

You wind up feeling nervous dread just having that sort of nonsense on in the background. It's deliberate psychological abuse.

But....fear is more of a react of the untried or inexperienced moreso than the 'educated', would you acknowledge?

For instance, as an example -- one may become 'immune' to certain aspects of what some may look upon as a "fear" until some outside catalyst (ie: repitition, unrecognized action, false mainifestation(s), medical intervention) is introduced. Possible?

Relevance to the point that without fear humans would be extinct? I think you're having trouble with comprehension again...

One of the main reasons I stopped watching TV and reading newspapers all together. I'm so much happier and my life is so much better since doing so.

You think you'd miss TV but the reality is you don't at all.
