Well in that case I also sold 2 items on Ebay over the weekend too, one for $150, one for $80...so $350 total this weekend for little to no effort...that's a months wages where you live isn't it?

I've been doing this a LONG time, first thing I do is check trending prices...on my local offerup the trend was around $150-$200. Then I undercut that price for a quick sale...hence $120 and it selling 5 mins after I put it up rather than it sitting there for days weeks.

The messages are always amusing...one nigger messaged me (I know he was a nigger because his name was "Deontay"

"Hey would you take $80 and deliver it?"...fucking nogs

You have wait longer to make a sale and I don't want the shit laying around my place for ages. You make the $$ with quick turn around sales. Bought on Thursday, listed and sold on Friday...then on to the next transaction.

    You'll learn kid, you'll learn...

This. You don't wanna nickle and dime over bullshit, just move the shit quick and get your bucks.

I like that idea Jig. What would you suggest for someone who doesn't have Value Village?

Never deliver for anyone. Easiest way to be fucked over or robbed.

Yep, I always meet at the gas station down the street and have my concealed weapon with me.

You gotta put the leg work in, I also go to goodwill, salvation army and other thrift stores near me...I'm fortunate to have 3 value villages in my area too...but then obviously garage sales is a great place. I was chatting to someone recently on offerup who was selling an item for $2500 which was a good price for what it was...she eventually told me she'd bought it at a garage sale for $100!

Again you gotta put the legwork in though...the VV I get a lot of stuff from is 2 mins from my job so I can pretty much go in there everyday on my lunch break. There's a LOT of fruitless trips before you find a bargin but the bargins come regular enough to make it worth the effort.

If I was doing it full time I'd be everyday going around thrift stores/garage sales/checking offerup etc. Offerup is a pretty good choice too, again some people sell stuff without doing any research...it's easy to get a deal on there and flip it on ebay.

A big "money maker" is old console games (and consoles)...example, I bought a copy of Castlevania symphony of the night on PS1 for 79 cents and sold it for $74.

The $80 item I sold on ebay this weekend was a commodore 64 disk game.

ETA: I've also thought about going to some of those abandoned storage unit auctions they have...not pulled the trigger on it yet though..a couple of years ago I bought a couple of Amiga computers from a guy locally and when I got to his house it was literally filled up with computers..to the point he had a mountain of monitors outside his garage because everywhere was full...inside his house every room was floor to ceiling with boxes and computers...a lot of old collectable ones too.

I figure he had about 200-300k worth of stuff...he said he bought it all at a storage auction and paid $2000 for the unit...he'd already made thousands in sales and paid for that 2k over and over and his house was still full.

2 yrs later he's still selling the shit on ebay and offerup.
  15. If you don't have a Value Village, you can use E-Bay. There's tons of items on there you can easily sell elsewhere for double the price you paid for it. It's a little more intensive, in that you have to be good at monitoring what's out there, and you have to be good at knowing what has value and what doesn't. For example, musical instruments. You can buy or bid a high-end Zildjian cymbal for $100 and then sell it on Kijiji for 50% profit. Very easy money.
  16. The downside of selling on ebay as of this year...if you make more than $1000 in sales they report it to the IRS...that started on Jan 1st this year. First I learned about this was back on Feb or March I'd made a sale for $200 or something and I got an email from ebay informing me of the change and that they couldn't release my money to me until I filled out the IRS form and supplied my SS number.

Previously it had been $20,000 before they reported your sales to IRS...so now if you sell something on ebay (over 1k for the year) you pay, ebay fees...buyer pays sales tax...and you will pay income tax at the end of the year on your total sales...I try to sell as much as I can on offerup now because of that.

I despise the fact I have forced to pay taxes on stuff that has already been taxed and the buyer pays sales tax on...talk about taxing something multiple times.

I just looked it up...see the price on this has skyrocketed since I sold it for $75...this auction is at $152 with 12 bidders.

Always check the CD section in thrift stores, PS1 games often get thrown in with them and you pick them up for less than $1

(The black label disks are more desirable)
