BD-R for long term archival storage

    Is it reliable?
    How long will a bd-r last if I take good care of them and keep them in optimal conditions?

    That raises a interesting question. Will people still hold on to their BD-ROM drives in order to retrieve the data they stored 50+ years prior?

    I mean, if that's the medium you chose, it would be smart to store it with a portable drive as well which would likely be USB interface. Who's to say USB would even be in use 50+ years into the future.

    Better store your BD-R with a laptop that has a drive capable of reading it, then. Probably with a solid state drive in it also so you don't have the hassle of having a dead HDD when you have to boot the laptop 50 years from now.
